About me
Before I became a therapist I worked in the public and charity sector and a local prison. Over the years I have worked directly with adults, families and couples. Just to give you an insight into the areas of my experience I have listed them below:
How I practice
I provide a compassionate, non-judgmental and theoretically informed approach to help you work through the difficulties you are facing. I work at your pace, led by you. As our relationship strengthens and where appropriate I will challenge distorted beliefs and behaviours that prevent you from moving towards growth and personal outcomes. I will not offer my opinion or promise to ‘fix’ your problems, as I strongly believe we all have the capacity to enable our own healing and development through the therapeutic process.
I can offer you a safe and confidential environment as I work from my tranquil garden cabin that backs on to fields and woodland. Because of this I am able to offer walk and talk therapy for those who prefer to be amongst nature.
You may find expressing how you feel quite difficult as you have learnt to suppress your emotions over time. By using creative interventions I have seen the benefits of working creatively with individuals as these interventions provide visual prompts that can help to verbalise our emotions and unprocessed trauma.
Training and Qualifications
I have an BA (Hons) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (Middlesex University) and a Certificate in Couples Counselling.
My Counselling practice is underpinned by BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. I am also a member of ACC. I attend regular supervision and engage in continued professional development (CPD) to ensure my knowledge is current and relevant to client needs. I am fully insured and I have an enhanced DBS.
